Research Work - INDIA

  1. Initiated and involved in setting up fertility care for patients with cancer- in association with Cankids-kidscan. This is the first clinic of its kind in Delhi-NCR.
  2. Has investigated the Role of Essure in Management of Hydrosalpinx prior to IVF in all populations both in India and worldwide. Presence of hydrosalpinx has a well-documented adverse effect on the success of IVF. Live birth rates of infertile women with hydrosalpinges undergoing IVF are reduced by 50% in comparison to controls i.e. infertile women without hydrosalpinges. Essure that is inserted into the fallopian tube under hysteroscopic guidance is an ambulatory procedure and needs only local anaesthesia. Essure has a role in the management of hydrosalpinx prior to IVF particularly in women with dense adhesions where operative morbidity may be unacceptably high.
  3. Did dissertation on “Labour Outcome in Breech Delivery” in which she has prospectively evaluated the outcome of a cohort of pregnant women with breech presentation in labour who came to the institution in India during a 1-year period. The incidence of breech deliveries was 4.17% and incidence of caesarean section 45%. Gross perinatal mortality was 15 % & after making correction for congenital anomalies, corrected perinatal mortality 3%. Maternal morbidity was similar in breech babies delivered vaginally or by caesarean, but neonatal morbidity was lower in the elective caesarean group.

Research Work - United Kingdom

  1. Conducted a National survey of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) in various UK centres and was involved in making a uniform policy for use of IUI in sub-fertile patients.
  2. Has looked at the evidence behind routine Vitamin D Supplementation of Pregnant Asian Women in UK and has done a comprehensive literature search. The review clearly shows that there is an improvement in maternal Vitamin D status as a result of supplementation. With this evidence she has been involved in preparing the local policy at Royal Blackburn Hospital, UK.
  3. CAESAR (Caesarean section surgical techniques: a randomised factorial trial) Trial: She is a trained Caesar trial operator and had participated in this multicentre study.
